About Korea Primer

Korea Primer explains Korea to Americans who are curious about it: the food at a Korean grocery store, the customs behind a K-drama scene, the holidays a Korean friend's family celebrates. We assume no background knowledge. When a Korean word matters, we give it in Hangul, spell it out in English letters, and explain it.

Who makes it

Korea Primer is edited by a Korean-born editor who lives in metro Atlanta, close to the area's Korean grocery stores and restaurants. Guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. The editor then checks each one for accuracy and for how things actually work, both in Korea and among Korean Americans.

When a guide includes the editor's own observations or photos, it says so. We do not describe visits, tastings, or conversations that did not happen. More on this in how we write.

What we cover

Korea Primer covers Korea broadly: food, everyday customs, language, holidays, and history. We are starting with Food & Groceries and Everyday Culture, and we add a new section only when it has enough finished guides to be useful. Every published guide is listed on theAll guides page.

Who publishes it

Korea Primer is a publication of JK Tech Solutions LLC, a Georgia limited liability company.
